I 40 Below Summer sono una band numetal originaria del New Jersey .
Il gruppo si è formato nel 1998 per decisione del batterista Carlos Aguilar e il cantante Max Illidge, ai quali si unirono i rimanenti 3 componenti per formare la lineup definitiva.
Dopo un primo ep (Rain) pubblicato nel 2000, la band ha rilasciato 3 full-lenght, l'ultimo dei quali nel 2006, pochi giorni prima dell'annuncio dello scioglimento del gruppo.
Dal 2006 la storia del gruppo è andata avanti tra scioglimenti, reunion, nuove band.
L'ultima è datata aprile 2011: nel suo profilo di Facebook , il cantante Illidge ha preannunciato l'imminente preparazione del nuovo disco dei 40 below summer.
