I Deftones sono indubbiamente una delle band numetal/alternative-metal piu' influenti e seguite degli ultimi 15 anni.
Nati a Sacramento nel 1988,formati da Chino Moreno (voce) e Stephen Carpenter(chitarra), i Deftones cominciarono ad avere seguito nel grande pubblico dopo l'uscita di "Around the fur" e "White Pony" (l'album d'esordio "Adrenaline" era molto piu' grezzo dei seguenti lavori) . White Pony è considerato un vero capolavoro.
Anche gli album successivi ebbero lo stesso successo di White Pony. Nel 2008 un incidente stradale ha conivolto il bassista Chi Cheng, che si trova attualmente in riabilitazione in seguito ad un coma semi-cosciente. Il suo posto nella band è stato preso, in via temporanea, da Sergio Vega dei Quicksand .
L'ultimo successo dei Deftones (Diamond Eyes) è datato 2010.
